Bauer’s foundry writes about this font: The Graphic is a brush script without connections and overhangs. With skilful use of the cone a very lively and effective typeface was achieved. Well, you need a cone, although no longer exploit sent, but that’s true with the typeface today. And who says now, that would mean hunting sausage, which I like to tell the story behind it …
In the 1980s I visited a supermarket, where the offers of the week were still painted by hand on a kind of wall paper. This was clearly a task for apprentices, so I watched as the young man standing on a ladder writing on the Billboard freshly wallpapered Poster Paper: “Jachtwurst” and the price to it. Now, in Hamburg that is how it is spoken. I briefly wondered how he could fix it now – otherwise he would have had to use another sheet of paper. so I said: “Hello, yacht is spelled with a Y!” “Really” “Yes, yacht is written with Y” “Hmm? I will fix it, but I think I’d better ask my boss! ” Yes, do that! “- the Boy came off the ladder, and I focused on my purchases, and even saw how the poster artist disappeared in the office. When I arrived back in the parking lot with my purchase, there stood actually Yachtwurst on the price-poster.
